"By His Grace Chop Bar," a local food joint.
We love this sign, not so much for humor-sake like last week’s “Hog Shop,” but because it exemplifies just how religious Ghanaians are. “By His Grace,” “Jesus Loves You,” and “We are Saved” are commonly followed by “hair salon,” “chop bar (meaning restaurant serving Ghanaian food),” or “electronics shop.”

Having been out of Accra now for the first time, we realize this Christian business-naming enthusiasm extends beyond the capitol city, at least to the far western region of the country. There’s something about eating at “By His Grace Chop Bar” that makes you feel less guilty about the palm oil calories. Amen.
